Have questions about our Laboratory Services? We have the answers.
Who do we provide services to?
Any person needing laboratory testing. We are skilled in drawing newborns, pediatrics and adults.
What if the outpatient hours do not work for me?
We make every attempt to be available to our patients. If the outpatient hours do not work for you, please call the lab and we will set up an appointment time outside of the regular hours. Since these requests require the technologist to extend their hours, after hour appointments will be set up based on the technician’s availability.
Are there any special preparations I need to do before testing?
There is special preparation for some testing. This can include picking up a container to collect the sample or fasting for a blood test (the most common test requiring fasting is a cholesterol test). When the patient has been instructed to fast, this means no food or drink for a minimum of 12 hours. A small amount of water is okay. If you have questions about preparing for your blood test, please do not hesitate calling the laboratory, our staff would be happy to answer your questions.
Will Medicare pay for my tests?
Not all tests are covered by Medicare. These tests may be billed to you. You and your physician can make the decision if these tests are necessary.
How long does it take to recieve results?
Depending of the nature of the test, your doctor may recieve results anywhere from 24 hours to a few weeks. Although we run many of the commonly used tests in our laboratory, there are some that we do not provide. To ensure patients can also have these tests completed, we have an extensive courier service that transports samples to the Methodist Hospital Pathology Center in Omaha, Ne. for testing. Samples may be flown out from CH-F to specialty labs to be tested.
Using our MyCareCorner patient portal, you could possibly see your lab results as fast as a few hours after your visit. To learn more about our patient protal, click here.
How can I get a copy of my results?
Once the doctor has received the results of your laboratory test, you may ask the physician for a copy. You may also pick up a copy from the Medical Records Department at CH-F (660-686-2292) Due to government regulations, laboratory staff is not allowed to release this information to the patient.

Does CH-F Laboratory Services provide DOT (Dept. of Transportation) testing?
We are a collection site for DOT drugs testing but do not provide alcohol testing for DOT clients. Federal regulations have recently changed. The failure to comply with these new regulations as of July 1, 2012 will result in a sample being rejected. The commercial carrier must provide us with the test kit, an updated CCF (Custody Control) form and a pre-paid shipping label to the laboratory of their choice. The CCF forms must have lines A-F completed by the employer or employee representative and have current contact information for both the employer and the MRO (Medical Review Officer). Inaccurate information may cause a delay in testing or reporting of results.
